Instacart Recruiter Pitch Contest

Instacart has transformed the grocery industry and, essentially, brought groceries online and into customers homes. However, during my time at the company (late 2018-mid 2020), recruiters were struggling to explain this massive opportunity.

To address this, I produced “Pitch Pear-fect,” a virtual competition where recruiters gave their best industry-focused pitch to a panel of judges (from our C-Suite!).

Step 1: Develop the Brief

A strong project requires a strong brief with clearly stated goals, KPIs, timeline, and roles & responsibilities. For this particular project, it was also critical to create clear, concise scoring criteria for the judges to rate contestants on.

Step 2: Develop Talk Track & Deck

With a start-up that had been growing, innovating, and hitting milestones for over eight years, there was no shortage of talking points that could become part of the talk track. The key was distilling down the glut of information to a succinct narrative that that assisted our team in telling our story from a very specific angle.

Step 3: Finalize Event Collateral

Physical awards that recognize milestones might seem inconsequential to some, but they go a long way.

For this competition, we produced medals for the top three participants overall, as well as awards for superlatives. During the pandemic, this was a tangible way to feel recognized by peers and connect back to our company and culture

Results

We saw an 80% attendance rate (one of our highest attendance rates for a TA event ever), and had over a 90% satisfaction rate.

It was an fun and engaging way to get recruiters ramped up and learning from each other, and has since become an annual event!
